The Balvenie Peat Week 14, a non-chill filtered expression is bottled at 48.3% ABV and presented in a 70cl bottle, it was was aged in the three most traditional cask types used in Scotch whisky production – first-fill bourbon, refill bourbon and sherry, which the Balvenie says has resulted in a whisky with exceptional smoky sweet notes, tropical fruits, with a "floral smokiness" and long honey finish.
Nose: Floral, tropical fruit notes with almonds and honey – and then the peat smoke comes through.
Palate: Citrus-led vanilla, peach and honey, and a gentle, almost floral peat smoke – very different to the Islay stuff.
Finish: Delicate smoke with a lingering and spicy sweetness.
